An
unusual and virtually impossible snowfall fell only on Denny's in
Eldersburg early this morning. Local meteorologists were dumbfounded
as to how temperatures and precipitation could be so radically different
from surrounding areas and, as one weather veteran put it: "so
doggone wacky". The snowfall of roughly six inches fell in
little more than an hour, starting shortly after 5 a.m. and surprised
the heck out of everyone, especially Denny's personnel reporting
for the breakfast shift. "Grand Slam!", line cook Jeff
Whitaker said about the white stuff. School age children inside
the restaurant during the snowfall were given a two-hour school
delay. An unnamed diner at the time of the snowfall hypothesized
that the Denny's Hearty Scramble breakfast was such a hot deal that
it was causing atmospheric disturbances.
