E-Burg Word on the Street

This is the weekly source for all the unofficial stuff that may not be in Eldersburg Print. I'm Jay-Burg, local resident, worker bee, and connoisseur of everything E-Burg.
Closing Up Shop
Several long-term Eldersburg businesses and offices have closed recently, for a number of reasons. Metzler's Nursery closed up on July 31, after being open since 1964. The Coldwell Banker real estate office next to 7-Eleven relocated its real estate agents to its Hampstead office, but not all of the agents transferred, with at least one agent moving to a different agency altogether. And Freedom Golf Center is reportedly closing soon, but no date has been announced.
K-Mart and Carrolltown Saga Continues
The redevelopment of Carrolltown Center continues to be put off indefinitely, despite efforts by the FACC to encourage an agreement between Black Oak Associates, the owner of Carrolltown Center, and K-Mart, who holds a long-term lease. The good news is that Black Oak and K-Mart are in ongoing negotiations; the bad news is that both parties have different end goals in mind, mainly the size of K-Mart moving forward. More details at
