Update - County
must approve plan for 254-unit Eldersburg project
What
are your thoughts about the Kali Drive Development project?
The
Issue - Security Development LLC has been trying
to build a 254-unit rental town home community at Kali Drive
and Ridge Road in Eldersburg for several years. Recently the
County Commissioners who have voted down the project have
been threatened with contempt of court.

What
Eldersburg.Net Readers are saying:
We think
the Carroll Co Planning & Zoning Comm have done a wonderful
job and we thank them for doing everything they could to stop
this terrible thing. We think the rental units should be built
in the Judge's back yard and that if the Kali Dr property
must be developed, put commercial there that would benefit
all of us who live here.
Eldersburg
is devloping mush too quickly. New schools already plan to
utilize trailers before they're even built. Route 32 can't
keep pace with the increase in traffic congestion. Why do
we keep building in this already overcrowded prtion of Carroll
County?
The Eldersburg
community remains environmentally distressed and continues
to lack the proper EMS services. Commercial development, is
the only development beneficial to this community and residents
of the future.
Don't
like all the new neighborhoods, the town has not been planned
properly for all the traffic!
It is
another shameless action by an activist judge to overrule
the desire of the people. Shame on you Judge Galloway! Let
the people who live in the area decide how they want their
community to evolve. That's what ELECTED officials are for.
Hmm, I
think I may just have to move. There are already too many
cars on Ridge Rd ~ this will only make it worse. The schools
are already at capacity, with trailers. Too many new people
will be introducted with 250 rental units. Why not build single
family homes?
Unfortunately,
the courts failed the residents of Eldersburg and forced the
hand of the Planning and Zoning Commission. I don't see how
the roads, utilities and schools can handle the influx of
residents that will come from building a residential property
of this scale. I hope that through the appeals process, a
solution can be reached that will take into account the residents
currently living in affected area.
Eldersburg
is going to be one big parking lot soon - no one will be able
to go anywhere with all the traffic these homes will create.
Go back in time and take away the rights.
