Eldersburg business and residents will unite once again this spring to welcome warmer weather, enjoy community camaraderie, and benefit locals in need. Saturday, May 7, 2011 is the date for the 29th South Carroll Spring Fling sponsored by the Freedom District Lions Club. The event will run from 8:00am to 3:00pm at the Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department carnival grounds (at Route 32 and Freedom Avenue).

Proceeds made at Lions events go toward local projects such as Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas presents for families in need, help with community emergencies, purchase of health equipment to lend to those in need, children's camps for diabetes, and academic scholarships.

There will be a flea market and craft show with room for 150 vendors. The Lions will serve breakfast and lunch sandwiches all day. The Lions’ French Fry stand will also be serving “the best fries in Carroll County.” On stage, local groups will provide entertainment and demonstrations. In previous years there have been dance presentation, martial arts demonstrations, and music performances.

Vendors who are interested should call the Lions now to reserve a spot.  Regular vendor spaces, 24 x 24 feet in size, rent for $20.00.  Covered spaces rent for $25.00 and vary in size. Spaces rented after March 15 are $30.00.
