Eldersburg:
Boondock Suburbia
Eldersburg Documentary to Premiere on Wednesday Aug. 23
>>
Watch the Film - Requires Windows Media (25 minutes)
(Takes a few minutes to buffer but well worth it)
What
is “Eldersburg”? This summer, three Liberty High graduates
set out to answer that question, their hard work finally materializing
into a short documentary, “Eldersburg: Boondock Suburbia.”
Filming
by day and editing by night, these three boys have had their work
cut out for them this month. Now in the final stages of production,
Adam Dyjak and Scott Lowe are (if you are reading this before the
premiere) most likely cranking out edited footage in Lowe’s
basement-turned-studio as your eyes skim these lines. We at Eldersburg.Net
wanted to recognize their dedication to this project and let the
readers know a bit about the documentary before it opens.
About the Film
This
is not your usual documentary. “Eldersburg: Boondock Suburbia”
covers as many aspects of Eldersburg as it can in the 25 minutes
allotted. Starting with the fun of childhood in Eldersburg, to the
mundane life for young adults in the area, moving to the acceptance
and embrace of middle-aged workers and family, and understanding
the elders of Eldersburg, this film weaves in the interesting, amazing,
and the unknown, making it enjoyable for every crowd. The film includes
interviews, history, discussion about growth in Eldersburg, what
there really is to do in the Burg, and much more.
About
the Makers
Scott
Lowe, Adam Dyjak, and Rush Lester were all extremely interested
in this production when it was first brought to their attention.
The best men for the job – already having experience with
video work and being known for some of their past projects at Liberty
High in recent years – agreed and started interviews the next
day. They’ve been working hard ever since and are very happy
with how the project is coming along.

Adam
Dyjak – Adam has been working with Scott for
several years, filming and being behind the scenes more often
than not. The mild-mannered 2006 graduate has a solid interest
in art and film and plans on going to art school in the spring.
In the meantime, he hopes to work in Europe and build his portfolio.
He enjoys eating bread, running, pitching, and painting with
oils. He does not enjoy snakes. |

Rush
Lester – Rush began his film career with school
projects, choosing the “video” option over the “poster
presentation” for reports. Scott and Adam assisted Rush
with the technical aspects for these short projects, but he
soon came to be a part of the team. Also from Liberty High's
class of 2006, Rush will be attending the college of William
& Mary in a few short weeks. He enjoys ninjas, ultimate
Frisbee, cross country, and being with friends. He does not
enjoy losing The Game. |
 |
Scott
Lowe – Scott has been working with film since
middle school, as Scott the Weather Wizard on the critically
acclaimed “Twister News Live.” From there, he helped
out with drama productions at Liberty High and the A/V team.
A 2005 graduate, Scott is now majoring in Video at Maryland
Institute College of Art in Baltimore and working various jobs.
Scott enjoys the simple things in life, eating at Denny's, going
to concerts, and making cameos. He does not enjoy inactivity. |
If you can’t make the premiere, don’t sweat it. Eldersburg.Net
will be hosting the video on the site and Channel 19 will be showing
it in October.
