Eldersburg Rogue Runners Qualify for Regional and National Meets

This past weekend (July 11-14) the AAU Region 2 meet was held at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. ERR qualified the following athletes from the district meet in Baltimore to participate in this region meet: Megan Austin, Katie Burke, Raleigh Linville, Sarah Maldeis, Samantha McElroy, Kasey Nolan, Isabelle Pickett, Jordan Rich and Matt Thompson.

However, due to previously scheduled commitments all were not able to attend the meet in Delaware, even though we know all who qualified would have put on a strong showing.

So, as for this past weekend ERR was represented by the following athletes, congratulations go out to:

• Megan Austin in the 80 Meter Hurdles and the 800 Meter Run
• Katie Burke in the 80 Meter Hurdles and the Discus
• Samantha McElroy in the 800 Meter Run and the Discus
• Kasey Nolan in the 3000 Meter Run
• Jordan Rich in the Triple Jump

All of these ladies put on a strong showing competing against other athletes from the Mid-Atlantic area. View complete results of this meet

In addition to their strong showings, two ladies put on performances good enough to land them in the top 4 places of their events, earning them a spot in the AAU 2007 National Meet, being held at the end of this month in Knoxville, Tennessee. So special congratulations go out to Jordan Rich for placing 3rd in her Triple Jump and to Samantha McElroy for placing 4th in her Discus.

Jordan will not be attending the national meet due to a previously scheduled commitment, however, Samantha will be heading to Knoxville, Tennessee at the end of the month to compete in the meet. We all wish her the best of luck and keep an eye out to see how she does!
