Fire on MacBeth Way

Sunday evening at 9:25PM the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department was dispatched to 7036 MacBeth Way in Eldersburg. Upon arrival at 9:31PM heavy smoke was observed coming from the building. Firefighters quickly assessed the situation and entered the building through the main entrance and also through the garage.

The home (a level split floor plan) was evacuated. Residents' home at the time included a woman and three children. The woman suffered burns to the bottom of her feet, she was evaluated by the paramedics on scene but she refused treatment. The children escaped without injury.

The fire took approximately 35 minutes to bring under control partially because the fire was concentrated in the basement level.

This was a two alarm fire however firefighters from three counties responded. The speed of response was impressive with the first firefighters on the scene in only six (6) minutes. Considering the number of firefighters and the fact that the majority are volunteers the coordination between firefighters and departs was exemplary.
