Black Oak Associates Inc. has broken ground on Main Street Eldersburg. At 9 am. on Wednesday, September 12, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the future site of Main Street Eldersburg. The event was sponsored by SunTrust Banking.

Present at the event were many names and faces. Guest speakers included Dixon Harvey Jr., President of Black Oak Associates Inc., County Commissioner Julie Gouge, Commissioner Mike Zimmer and Michael Eisenklam, principal of Eldersburg Elementary School.

Along with him, Mr. Eisenklam brought some of his fifth grade class. The students opened and closed the ceremony with song, as well as opening with the pledge of allegiance. Eldersburg Elementary will remain involved in the progress of the "green" development. The energy-saving and environment-friendly techniques will be incorporated into the students' science education as they study and observe. Three of the students were also able to take part in the groundbreaking activity of planting a tree on the future site.

“Black Oak Associates is committed to developing all it's future retail projects LEED-certified and sustainable, and Main Street Eldersburg has been designed as the model for this process,” explained R. Dixon Harvey, Jr., President of Black Oak Associates.
