Delegate Krebs speaks with Eldersburg.Net on her running for re-election

Susan Krebs is running for re-election as representative of District 9B in the Maryland House of Delegates, she recently announced at Sykesville-Freedom District Fire on Hall on Nov. 10.

District 9B includes Eldersburg, Sykesville, Woodbine, Gamber and Windfield. Krebs was first elected in 2002 when District 9B was formed to accommodate the increased growth of southern Carroll County. She was re-elected in 2006.

Krebs recently talked with Eldersburg.Net about her campaign for re-election. The interview follows:

What inspired you to run again? What is your favorite aspect of the job?

"I am inspired by the overwhelming support I have received from our community. It is very important for those of us in the minority party to continue to offer solutions for our State government to run in an efficient and fiscally responsible manner. The best part of my job is constituent service and navigating the bureaucracy to get issues resolved for Carroll County."

What do you foresee as your biggest challenge in running? Do you anticipate any challengers to the position?

"My biggest challenge in running is to balance my time between campaigning in Carroll County and helping to get good candidates ( and Bob Ehrlich) elected in other districts throughout the State. We need more Republicans throughout the State in the Maryland General Assembly to bring some balance and sanity to the legislature.

In elected office, you always prepare for challengers."

What do you think sets District 9B apart from surrounding districts?

"Carroll County and District 9B are very conservative areas with a hard working, educated population. People here believe in personal responsibility, limited government, a strong education system, and fiscal responsibility. Many of our surrounding districts have been influenced by an increasing big government mentality. I think that mind set is beginning to shift back."
