Liberty High School Lion's Pride Marching Band

A bouquet of beautiful music filled the air over Liberty High School Saturday evening when 9 bands performed their season’s routines for TOB judges and a packed stadium of parents, friends and supporters. Liberty’s “EXTRAVAGANZA” was a glowing success as one of the opening competitions in the TOB line up. Liberty’s own “Lion’s Pride” marching band ended the evening performing in the exhibition.

Liberty’s show, titled “Medusa” tells the tale in Greek Mythology of the nymph turned snake – haired monster by Athena and her ultimate demise by Perseaus. Drum Major, Jennifer Rosso, leads the band through the sequence of music masterfully, just as she portrays Athena directing the sequence of Medusa’s tragic end. Playing the rold of Medusa, Lauren Leahy not only dons snakes for hair, she rises high above the alter only to meet her fate at the striking beats of her performance.

If all of that wasn’t enough, you have original music by Key Poulan being played with percussion by the band and a featured solo by Megan Franey. The band maneuvers with ease as they play I. Medusa Lures Poseidon II. Athena’s Rage III. The Serpents IV. The Gorgan’s Pursuit. Percussion arrangement by Gary Gill and Dimitri Saliaris and drill design by Brian Prato. Band Director is Ms. Brandi Jason.
