The Lion’s Pride shows through as Liberty High School’s Marching Band takes the field in competition. On September 15, 2007, Liberty High Marching Band hosted their annual Extravaganza. Ten bands from the tri-state area competed for top honors. It was the kick-off for the marching competition season.
On Saturday night, September 29, 2007, their pride could be seen and heard all the way from Century High School. Competing against four other Group I bands, Liberty brought home a bus load of awards. The color guard spun their way to the Best Auxiliary award. The percussion section managed to beat out the others, taking home the Best Percussion award. The melodious sound of the instruments rewarded the band with the Best Music award. To top off the evening, the entire marching band brought home the Best Visual award. With a score of 82.1, Liberty succeeded in taking home the First Place Trophy in the Group I division.
With five more competitions to go, Liberty High School’s Marching Band will be striving to surpass each previous week’s score. The Chapter V Championship will be held at Liberty High School on November 3, 2007. Winners from that evening will move on to the Atlantic Coast Championships, which will be held in Dover, Delaware on November 10th.
