District Lions Club Give Scholarships and Sponsor Trip to
Peru
As
released by the Lions Club:
The Freedom District Lions Club held their
regular meeting on August 13, 2008 at the Messiah Lutheran
Church. In attendance were the recipients of the Lions annual
scholarships for high school seniors. The scholarships were
awarded to Deborah Joy of Century High School and Katie Dell
of Liberty High School. The Lions wish both of these young
ladies great success in their future endeavors.
Also in attendance was Elise Pittman. Ms. Pittman received
monetary assistance from the Lions to attend the Festival
Internacional de la Primavera in Peru. This is a festival
sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Peru and Ms. Pittman attended
as part of the group with the National Baton Twirlers Association.
Lions Club pins and Friendship Banners were exchanged with
the Clubs in Peru. Memorabilia and a video presentation of
her trip were presented to the Lions.
Our 3rd annual Double Basket Bingo is scheduled for August
23rd at the Sykesville Freedom VFD Hall at Route 32 and Freedom
Ave. For your $40.00 admission fee, you receive breakfast,
lunch and 40 games of basket bingo. Doors open at 9:30 AM,
games begin at 10:30 AM. There will also be raffles, Jackpot
games and several of the popular King Tutt games where someone
will win 5 Longaberger baskets in each game. The first two
years were sell outs, so reserve your seats now by calling
