Eldersburg Chat Room to Launch Today

Eldersburg
might not have its own town council, but we do have our own chat
room! Hosted right here on Eldersburg.Net, the chat room will be
available today, Friday July 13, 2007 from noon to 5:00 pm and on
Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. More session times will be added
in the coming weeks, including sessions with special guests. Eldersburg.Net
hopes that this chat room can be an outlet for the community to
discuss progress as well as problems in Eldersburg with the officials
who want to hear the opinions of the people.

What:
Live Eldersburg Text Chat
Who: Any Eldersburg resident, past, present,
or future.
When: Friday July 13 from 12-5pm; every
Thursday from 6-7pm
Where: A link will be on the Eldersburg.Net
main page when the session is open. |

While
constructive discussion is encouraged, so is fun. Each session will
be loosely guided and topic-oriented.
The
chat features password-protected screen names, many options on the
font and look of the chat window, private messaging, and much more.
Some beta testers used the Eldersburg chat room today and all people
involved found it enjoyable and easy to use. Chat administrators
and Eldersburg.Net hope that Eldersburg residents of all ages will
log on to discuss our community in a safe, fun, and constructive
way.
| Things
to keep in mind:
- Keep
language at a PG level.
- Don’t
YELL ALL THE TIME; it’s very rude.
- Try
to stay on Eldersburg-related topics.
- Do
not harass other chatters. If a user is bothering you, please
notify the moderator.
This
is a moderated chat, which means that everything you say in
the main chat has to be accepted by the moderator. Everything
you say will appear on your screen, but if you break the rules,
the rest of the chat will not see your message. Moderators
will give you warnings for chat misbehavior. Be aware that
you can and will be banned if you do not heed their warnings. |
How
to Chat:
- Click
on Register on the top bar of the chat box.
- Select
a name and a password and hit Submit
- Click
on the Eldersburg Lounge
- You
can change Options at the top of the box, as well as font
and background at the bottom of the box.
- Click
in the text box at the bottom to start typing your message
and hit Enter/Return to send your message.
- Double
clicking on a user’s name on the right side will open
a private chat with that person.
