Motorcycle Accident on Henryton Road

At approximately 6:00 PM on Monday, August 21, 2006 an unknown male caucasion driving a Suzuki GSX motorcycle (known as a "crotch rocket") lost control and was thrown violently into a nearby field while traveling west bound on Henryton Road in Marriottsville.

Rescue workers responding from Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department responded rapidly and successfully stabilized the driver. Neighbors reported that the motorcycle was traveling at a very high rate of speed immediately before the incident.

The driver was transported by helicopter to Maryland Shock trauma even though he was concious at the time.The driver's helmet was also transported to shock trauma to help determine the location and extent of any head injuries. This accident underscores the reason the posted speed limits in this area are 30 mph.

The next time you see a first responder, shake their hand and thank them for being there when we need them. Well done ladies and gentlemen. Well done indeed.
