Polar Bear Plunge Supports Special Olympics

Lions Brenda, Pat Livesay and Susan Goldsborough took part in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge to support Maryland Special Olympics.
Together with staff members from Rhymes and Reasons Child Development Center in Eldersburg the plungers raised over $1,400. The water was very cold but this was a very worthwhile activity.

Donations came from businesses and individuals. Local businesses who contributed include Tristar Martial Arts, Wayne Hollenbaugh's State Farm Insurance Agency, New Century Associates and The Freedom District Lions Club.

The money raised by these Lions is combined with over $2 million dollars raised for Maryland Special Olympics by the Plunge. This was the eleventh year for the MSP Polar Bear Plunge. Each year there is an increase in participants and donations. This year was the most successful ever.
