On Wednesday, Carroll County Public Schools announced that it will use a new student information system with the start of the 2010-2011 school year. The new system, eSchoolPlus, will allow parents obtain up-to-date information of their students via the internet.
Unlike SASI, the previous information system, eSchoolPlus communicates information such as grades, attendance, transcripts, and test scores, giving parents a much clearer and current picture of their children than quarterly report cards.
"This new student information system will expand and enhance our ability to track student achievement, report student progress to parents, and provide required data to the Maryland State Department of Education," said Superintendent of Schools Stephen Guthrie.
All teachers will be trained in the use of the system when they return to schools in August, while parents will be enabled to access the system in October.
Frederick County Schools, which has utilized eSchoolPlus for student recordkeeping since 2007, commented that the program runs smoothly.
