The South Carroll Business Association presented three $750 scholarships to graduating seniors at each of the area high schools (Century, Liberty and South Carroll) on Thursday, June 2nd during each of the school’s award ceremonies.

For over 30 years the South Carroll Business Association has strived to promote betterment in both our business and residential communities and on June 2, 2011 this came together in a most perfect way.   Because of your generous support to the SCBA’s Business Expo, golf tournaments, bull roast and several other functions through the years, we were able to create an Educational Scholarship Fund that provided three graduating seniors each a $750.00 one time grant to start their college education.   Each of the candidates was chosen by his or her own high school.   The selection criterion was that the student selected be a highly motivated and successful high school senior that had the desire to continue his or her  education by obtaining a business degree from an accredited college or university.

The recipients for the 2011 SCBA Educational Scholarship Award are  Kenneth Chase Anderson from Liberty High School, Spencer Haines from Century High School, and Karen Suckling from South Carroll High School.   These students truly had the most impressive resumes and grade point averages.   SCBA members  Dave Burrows, Richard Coyne, and Marcia Duffy presented these grants at each of the high school ceremonies. It was an honor to represent the South Carroll Business Association members in participating and providing this much needed support to our local youth.
