At 9:30 am on August 12, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners will hold an open community hearing to discuss with residents a proposed practice field on county land in the Eldersburg area. The proposed field would be established by the Winfield Recreation Council and would be located along Streaker Road, between White Rock Road and Md. 97.
The recreation council has wanted to build additional practice fields in the past to ease the burden on its existing fields and provide more open space, but was stopped due to limited Project Open Space funds. The funds are provided by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and are distributed to help local jurisdictions buy land and build parks.
Residents living near the proposed park are concerned about the proposal, wary of possible traffic and noise issues as well as the park’s impact on property values.
