Despite their best efforts, the Liberty Lions football team could not down their hometown rival in last Friday night’s match up.
Century High School took home the 39-0 shutout victory with quarterback Josh Bordner leading the pack. This comes with little surprise for avid high school football followers. Century’s football team has taken commanding leads in most of its matches versus Liberty in the past few years. Since 2005 the team only lost to Liberty once, in a 6-21 2007 match. The rest of the games saw leads of at least 17 points, though no games since 2005 saw a shutout against the Lions.
Quarterback Bordner’s football prowess was noticed by Boston College back in July. Since then he has dedicated himself to the college, giving up other prospects such as the University of Maryland. Despite the decision Bordner shows no signs of slacking before he says goodbye to high school forever.
