The Liberty High School Lion’s Pride Marching Band has had a recent slew of successes at local competitions.
On Saturday, Oct. 17 the band took first place at the Musselman High School band competition, at Musselman High School in West Viginia, with a score of 89.45 out of 100, earning specialty rewards for best music, percussion, auxiliary and visual performance. The competition saw 16 other bands in attendance. The week before this most recent triumph the band placed first at the Carlisle High School band competition, at Carlisle High School in Pennsylvania, with a score of 85.95 out of 100. This all culminates in the Lions attending the Chapter V Championships at Brunswick High School, in Brunswick, Maryland. Liberty is currently ranked third in Group 2 of the Tournament of Bands, below Brick Memorial and Governor Livingston high schools, which have scores of 91.75 and 89.75, respectively.
The Tournament of Bands is a non-profit competitive band organization founded in 1972 that is currently involved with 400 schools and organizations. The organization provides performance opportunities for marching bands and other musical ensembles.
