Thieves cut catalytic converters from parked carsAugust 28. 2008 From the Carroll County Sheriff's Office: Sykesville, Carroll County, Maryland, August 28, 2008 ---- As working commuters returned to their vehicles during yesterday afternoon’s rush hour, several discovered that the catalytic converters had been removed from their vehicle exhaust system. The Sheriff’s Office’s initial investigation revealed that thieves had cut the catalytic converters from underneath four cars parked on the Park & Ride Lot at the intersection of Route 97 South and West Old Liberty Road. A fifth catalytic converter was cut from a vehicle parked on the parking lot at Century High School, which is less than one mile from the Park & Ride. All of these incidents are believed to be related.
