The match-up
The 10 round main event will be a fight between 6’1” Tucker, 21, of Eldersburg and his challenger 6’1” Rubin “Mr. Hollywood” Williams, 33, of Detroit, Michigan. Tucker’s flawless winning streak is further bolstered with his seven technical knockouts. Williams has about twice the number of knockouts – 16 total – but also has about three times the number of wins. Of Williams’ 37 total fights, he’s lost only seven and drawn one.
TNT’s record has earned him the status of the 19th ranked light heavyweight fighter in the United States and the 58th ranked in the world, while Mr. Hollywood is 48th ranked in the U.S. and 159th ranked in the world.
Tucker’s father, Mark “Spirit Bear” Tucker, admitted that the fight with Williams would not be easy, “He’s an outstanding boxer… it’s going to be a good challenge.” He boiled down the strategy for the fight with a simple saying, “Strike first, strike fast, strike hard, strike last,” he said.
Tucker explained that a victory in this bout would land TNT in the United States Boxing Organization’s (USBO) light heavyweight championship in the fall. A loss, on the other hand, would shatter that dream. “This is not like any other sport – in boxing if you lose you got to the back of the line,” Tucker said. “This isn’t a bicycle race, this isn’t golf… this isn’t baseball or football – you lose a game, you’re done.”
Other fighters in the boxing event will include Emmanuel Taylor from Edgewood, Md., Allen Perkins from Fredrick, Md., Johhy Dejesus from York, Pa., Terrel Samuel from Baltimore, Dwayne McCrae from Laurel, Md. and Christian Davila from Rockville, Md.
