Eldersburg Man Wins Fourth Countdown to Millions Top Prize

(Baltimore)- The fourth and final Countdown to Millions $1 million winner has come forward. Forty-nine-year-old, Joseph Turgeon from Eldersburg claimed his prize today. He bought only one ticket in June and that ticket turned out to be one of the four top winners.

“"I played the game because the odds were so good and I figured one ticket is good enough," said Joseph. "“When I realized I was a winner, I went numb."

The lucky player was shopping for a birthday card on Sunday when he remembered the drawing took place the night before. He scanned his ticket at the retailer's and it showed he was a winner. To find out how much he had won, he called his sister to check the numbers on the Lottery's website. "She told me I was a million dollar winner," he said shaking. Being the cautious person that he is, Joseph wanted to see for himself. He left the store and went straight to his sister's house to check the numbers again. That's when reality set in for Joseph.

On Monday, the Social Security Administration employee went to work like nothing happened. Knowing that he won $1 million made the winner somewhat giddy inside. "I just kept looking at everyone working and all I could do was laugh," said Joseph.

The lucky player said he is going to use his prize money to invest, pay off his house and send his parents on a trip. The winning ticket was purchased in Baltimore at Downtown Tobacco Outlet in Lexington Market.
