Eldersburg.Net Living in Eldersburg Survey 2007

Thank you to all who participated in our survey. The survey was intended to learn more about what's on the mind of Eldersburg residents and how they feel about the town. We'll be sharing the results over the next few days, so be sure to check back.

Part I: We Want Target!
Target stores were the number one store mentioned in response to the question "What shopping or business would you like to see in Eldersburg?" Overall, survey respondents said they wanted more big box retailers and more upscale and chain restaurants. The top stores and businesses on the list, with the corresponding percentage who wanted that business, are:

1. Target (25.4 %)
2. Best Buy (8.2 %)
3. Staples/Office Depot/Office chain store (7 %)
4. Outback Steakhouse (5.5 %)
5. Costco/Warehouse store (2.8 %)
6. Michael's craft store (2.8 %)
7. Red Lobster (1.8 %)
8. Dick's Sporting Goods (1.8 %)
9. Pet store (1.8 %)
10. Olive Garden (1 %)
11. T.G.I.Friday's (1 %)

Nearly 7% of respondents indicated that they wanted no more new businesses, including responses such as:
- None
- No more
- No more If I want to live in a city I would have done so
- No more building

Other responses to what they want in Eldersburg include:
- Sports arena
- More restaurants
- Big bookstore
- Quality dog boarding/pet hotel
- Craft and fabric store
- Something like the Avenue at White Marsh
- Less strip malls
- Better restaurant choices
- Whole Foods or organic grocer
- Shoe store, toy store, clothing
- Roller skating rink, better restaurants
- Teen age activities
- Stereo Classical CDs & Electronics
- Mini golf
- Waffle House
- A major department store like Macy's, a Petsmart, a sporting goods store
- New movie theater
- Chipotle
- SONIC
- Upscale retail and office supplies
- Lowe's
- Guitar Center
- Clothing
- Little outdoor shops to bring in more buiness and support the businesses already here

Overall, Eldersburg respondents indicated that they are looking for not only big-box retailers, but national retailers and chains that they often have to drive to Westminster or Columbia for.
