Learning Center Earns Full Accreditation with Middle States
Sylvan
Learning Centers of Carroll County, with locations in Eldersburg
and Westminster, has earned full accreditation by the Middle States
Commission on Elementary Schools (MSCES) and the Commission on Secondary
and Middle Schools of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS). Accreditation status certifies that Sylvan's educational
services, staff and facilities meet or exceed essential standards
of educational quality.
In order to achieve accreditation, the Sylvan Learning Center underwent
a lengthy, individualized evaluation process, which included a self-study
and site visit and which assessed all aspects of the educational
programs offered by Sylvan Learning Center.
According to the letter received by Sylvan, "Both Commissions
are delighted to confer this honor to your educational community,
which comes after a rigorous, multi step process." Sylvan underwent
a thorough self-study and hosted an independent evaluation team
in January 2005. The evaluation team said, "the Center has
demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement through a comprehensive,
on-going, strategic-planning process."
Prior to receiving this accreditation, Sylvan earned full accreditation
from The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation
(CITA). CITA is the accrediting authority in the United States and
throughout the world. It is the alliance of the premier American
accreditation associations, including MSCES and SACS.
