This is the weekly source for all the unofficial stuff that may not be in Eldersburg Print. I’m Jay-Burg, local resident, worker bee, and connoisseur of everything E-Burg.

Keep the P at least – Poe’s, a former restaurant, bar, and shootout corral (yes, Eldersburg has had shootings) that closed earlier this year in the Martin’s shopping center is being replaced by Panera, a popular, ultra-suburban bread shop. They are now taking applications and if you can’t wait for the experience, visit http://www.panerabread.com/

What the Buck? Eldersburg is about to welcome yet another coffee shop, Buck’s County Coffee in the soon to open relocation of Martin’s Food in the Eldersburg Marketplace Shopping Center. This will bring the total number of coffee shops in town from none to about eight in three years. Read more about the story

I said, “NO FREE PAPERS!!” Eldersburg folks I talk to are increasingly irritated by the growing number of papers on their driveway and in their mailbox. One bloke I spoke with told me that he’s tired of having to walk to pick up papers out of his driveway, especially when they’re sopping wet. This seems to be a shared point of view, as shown by the growing number of NO FREE PAPERS signs. More perspective on this in our article titled Newspapers of Eldersburg

HEL YEAH! You may have seen Delegate candidate Larry Helminiak’s billboards around town touting, “Tired of Taxes? Me Too!” with Larry’s mug shot big and pretty. It looks like this local may make incumbent Susan Krebs work a little harder to keep her seat in Annapolis.
