E-Burg
Word on the Street
By Jay-Burg
June
22, 2007
This
is the weekly source for all the unofficial stuff that may not be
in Eldersburg Print. I'm Jay-Burg, local resident, worker bee, and
connoisseur of everything E-Burg.
GOIN'
POSTAL
A new postal store has opened in the former location of Cuts in
the Liberty Station Shopping Center, where Little Professor Books
is located. The store - aptly named Goin'
Postal - offers mailing, shipping, mailbox rentals, faxing,
copying, stamps, and more.
If you need color copies, check them out as they are running a 25
cent Color Copies coupon until the end of July.
Life
without Fun
Quarters?
Sadly, the amusement headQuarters of Eldersburg will be closing
its doors at the end of this month. A generation of Eldersburgians
grew up crawling its inspirational tube maze and reveling in the
Boardwalk-style excitement - the lights, the games, the prizes...ahh...winning
tickets and cashing them in for prizes that I could pick.
An employee said they were closing from lack of business. Where
now will Eldersburg toddlers turn for their hamster-crawling experience?
DOZERS,
Start Your Engines
Delegate Sue Krebs
said last night at the FACC
meeting that work on the Route
26 and Route 32 expansion project will start within a few days.
So, be ready to deal with a few delays and challenges navigating
this area...and please, be careful...this intersection has been
responsible for a number of very serious accidents, including one
that totaled the fire department's vehicle.
Beer
+ Crabs = Backfin Pale Ale
Brewed by Eldersburg resident Gregg Norris, Backfin
Pale Ale is a local popular brew that goes great with crabs,
as shown by the crab crawling across the logo. You can get Backfin
on tap at a number of local spots including Salerno's and Buffalo
Wings and Beer. Now is the time to try it (or stock up) as Salerno's
is running a coupon in the Advocate on its back page ad for the
best price around, that expires Monday.
WAL-MART
Stinks
The Sykesville Freedom Fire Department responded to the Eldersburg
Wal Mart store which was evacuated for a brief time, Tuesday June
19, when several employees complained of a burning sensation in
their eyes, throats and skin and an unknown odor. Read
more.
